Orlando Hernandez was born in Matadero, Cuba, near Havana. His many years of experience in singing led him to obtain in 1999 a National award and certificate on Professional Cultural Development Program in Cuba.

In his native Cuba he has performed at various events and venues of international recognition such as the Festival of Cuban Salsa, Cuban National Festival in Havana, the National Theatre of Havana and San Jose Theatre. He has also performed in Cuba's most prestigious Hotels such as the Melia, Tuxpan, Bella Costa, Sol Palmera, Super Clubs and Oasis. He has appeared regularly on Cuban TV and National Radio through several popular programs such as Disco Fiesta 98 and City of Havana.

Orlando resides now in Toronto where he performs at various festivals and venues such as Salsa on Saint Claire, Aurora Jazz Festival, African Festival in Dundas Square, Beaches Jazz Festival, Burlington Jazz Festival, Georgetown Diversity Festival, and ESPIRITU! Concert with Cantores Celestes Choir, Broadcasted by CBC, Indulge Festival –Metro Square Stage in Toronto, Sounds of Music Festival in Burlington, Kleinburg Arts Festival, SANTE Wine Festival and CBC Christmas Concert at Glen Gould Studio.

In Canada, as a member of CASSAVA band, Orlando Hernandez has performed in educational concerts and clinics in several schools and universities throughout the province of Ontario. In addition, he has participated in many recording projects as a lead singer. He can be heard in CASSAVAs new CD “Color de Rumba” to be released in 2008.
